The Torrione Praenestina is an ancient tomb from the time of the Roman empire. Located in the Pigneto neighborhood of Rome, the ruins and the park surrounding them are backed by a neglected junkyard which separates them from the apartment buildings beyond. This project would provide a connection between these two places, stitching together this tear in the urban fabric of the city.
Design Conception

We began this project by creating a Nolli map and using it to bring the urban context of the site into high relief. The Nolli map also became a design tool as we used it to analyze how well our concept integrated with the urban fabric surrounding it.

renderings

This was a three person project. After the cooperative design stage, my primary role was to unify renderings and diagrams into a consistent language. To this end, I was integral to creating all of the graphics used to present the design.
